Here is the weekly sampling from my del.icio.us favorites list. This time I chose the tag "Scaffolding." Scaffolding is the technique of providing temporary and/or partial learning support to assist students in applying and synthesizing new skills and knowledge. The term is also used to describe a specific form of the approach: layering and overlapping earlier learning with new material to both reinforce the earlier learning and contextualizing the new material. Here's what I found I have:
"Supporting Student Success Through Scaffolding" from the Tomorrow's Professor Blog: An article discussing five scaffolding strategies.
"Scaffolding" from Emerging Perspectives on Learning, Teaching, and Technology: An in-depth description of scaffolding, including definition, elements, approaches and more.
